Garden Examples (all in Northern California)

Green Valley, Sonoma County, CA 

This constructed rock outcropping crossed two existing paths and was placed so that it looks as if the paths were added around the existing rocks. The stones anchor the plantings and mimic a place of geological time. Next lavenders, ornamental grasses and Mediterranean ornamentals were planted to fill the space around the  rocks.

In the foreground is the Australian Fuchsia (Corrae ‘Dusty Bells’). Next to the rocks are the blossoms of "Munstead" lavender (Lavandula angustifolia ‘Munstead’) and the California Fuchsia (Zauschneria californica). The background is framed with the Feather Reed Grass "Karl Foerster" (Calamagrostis acutiflora ‘Karl Foerster’)

A swath of ‘Grosso’ lavenders (Lavandula x intermedia  ‘Grosso’) wanders through the garden with a border of Feather Reed Grass ‘Karl Foerster’ in the background and orange highlights of the Red-Hot Poker plant (Kniphofia uvaria).
